Campus to Corporate: A phase of “Real learning”

Its been quite a few months, I didn’t write anything for my blog, that’s because of many reasons. First of all, I didn’t have the zeal to write something interesting or I couldn’t find any interesting topic to write about. Secondly, I would have been too lazy to pick up to writing.  Anyway, now, I am back with this short article.

When people come out of college and join some company to work for, they generally undergo a phase of learning,  thats I call it as a “Real Learning” phase. Because, while making this trasition from campus to corporate, we learn a lot of things which are really really essential to lead a life. Unlike some theoritical aspects of some subjects which we have learnt in college days and  we rarely/hardly use them to lead a life.

So, you must be wondering, what have we all learn in this phase?! I don’t know about others but I certainly learnt some valuable lessons during this phase, which dawned on me during these  last 3 months period. Below are the things which I learnt during this phase.

1] Never ever believe a person so bluntly.

2] Don’t depend on anybody.Because, there is a high possibility that the person whom you depend on, might not be available when you want him the most or he might leave you in the middle of the sea knowingly that you cannot swim.

3]Be bold to admit your own mistake as soon as possible, whatever the consequences may be.

4]Be strong, don’t take the failure to heart. Just move on, thats what life is all about.

5]Don’t compete, just co-operate.

6]Indian Taxation systsem.

7]Practicality of the technical things which we a have learnt in college.

8]Formalities

9]Take responsibiltity of your own life. Here nobody cares about you.

10] Don’t be in your own comfort zone and don’t settle down too early in life.

These are all my experiences, these might vary from person to person according to their mentality. But, what I want to share with you all is, there will be some or the other things which we all have to  learn while making this transition from campus to corporate, which are inevitable to lead a life that the corporate life demands us to live.

I conclude this article by mentioning, this shift from campus to corporate will not be like a cake walk, unless and until, we strive to make it one or in general we can quote that ,”Life will never become a cake walk, if you never strived to make it one.”

College Day…Speech!!

If Shalini madam had allowed me today….the following piece of writing would have been my speech in college. Never mind, because “Popular things are not always right and the things which are right, are not always popular”.

At this point, I find no difference between an examination and this speech. Because, an examination demands us to write 3 months of learning in just 3 hours.  Likewise, this speech is more critical and complex. Because, I just got 3 minutes to cover up all the memories of 4 years.

I guess, we all, as engineers are well prepared for this, right from the beginning. Because, we all know how to condense a 10-15 pages of assignment into 5-6 pages.

I still vividly remember , when I shipped to Nitte from my manufacturer. I was just the hardware with the lower version of software and processor. But, had the great zeal to learn. This very feature of me acted as a ‘Pacemaker’ to my machine.

While staying and studying in Nitte, I came across so many bugs, viruses and malwares in the form of social involvement, communication and self-confidence. As someone rightly said, “A man becomes great, not by fighting with others. But by struggling with his own weaknesses and overcoming  them”. Yes, I struggled a lot to get rid off those. But now , I am happy to say that I didn’t crash or go down, because of those problems…because I believed in that saying , which acted as a ‘Quick Heal’ antivirus to my system.

As days passed, I realized that, if I am going to stay complacent with my same hardware and software, its not going to work in the world market and someday I would be outdated. That’s when , I went to GYM for hardware up gradation, that never worked as you can see now. And then for software up gradation, I signed up to Annex Knowledge Base and started downloading  the content which I am interested off. This has done a great help to me and eventually ended up becoming an addict.

I thank my college management for installing plug-ins like IEL and IGW labs, which are essential to enhance students soft skills and their public [ social ] behavior.

If  you think , this piece of speech is creative because of its content and analogies. But, I think , it is creative solely because , the idea to this speech is conceptualized while I am in bathroom or say toilet or say both…because our hostel offers 2 in 1 facility.

While going out of this college, I am proud to say that , even though I couldn’t upgrade my hardware. But I can say  that , my software started working miracles.

Thank you all..

Anandotsava-2011

This Anandotsava-2011 has been the best fest ever according to my personal experience. Last year, during Anandotsava I was in Ooty and had a good time with friends .But then this year Anandotsava has been the best. There are many reasons to quote for this; first and for most , first time in my life I deeply involved myself in volunteering and managing the task given to me. Second thing is, I mingled with many people that too with girls, the thing which I do very rarely.

When it comes to volunteering (active volunteering..), I have never thought I would work in Anandotsava display committee, it just happened within a blink of an eye. Simply I had gone to see how the things are going on in display committee and sat to talk with friend Shodhan and he asked me to join the team. Since I didn’t had any job to get involved in, I did some stuff for some time. While doing my job, he was continuously insisting me to join the committee and managed to get me a volunteer badge that I wanted the least. After joining the committee I took it some what seriously and did my justice to it.

Coming to mingling with the people and that too with the girls, it was a tough time for me. Basically because, I never ever conversed with girls continuously face to face more than 10 minutes ( through mobile is an exception.. 🙂 ), but in this case I had to talk with them to get the things done. As people say “Time is a good healer”, as the time passed I tried to talk with them but still they felt my silence and finally asked me to talk something ..that I being the straight forward told them that ..”This is my first time talking to girls so long and I don’t have anything special to talk with you “. I guess, this frankness amazed them a bit, so I felt they started accepting me as I am( but still I doubt). After this encounter I realized my inability to talk with opposite sex but I convinced myself by getting involved in more and more of people oriented programmes like…crack the campus, so that I could get over it soon.

Apart from these two incidents, I took part in General Quiz event and essay writing competition. I went to general quiz with two of my friends just to pass the time and we wrote some crazy answers…. had fun. In essay writing, organizers allowed us to write either kannada or english essay . I wrote in Kannada and got third prize as well. At the end of the fest ,we were asked to prepare the collegewise points list and event winners list. As per the guidelines, we prepared the lists and submitted to head of the committee. After this we moved on to attend concluding ceremony and received our appreciation certificate for volunteering. At the end of the fest, I felt somewhat enriched by the experience …whether it’s good or bad ….I don’t mind.

Journey…

“ There will be up and downs, rejoices and resentments, despite all these odds one needs to keep his/her poise throughout the journey, to enjoy the auspicious moments, to behold the beauty of the nature and on top of it, to learn the laws of this Universe which demystifies itself the very existence of LIFE. Though the journey will be incomplete……”

If we ask billion people “what is Life?”…no doubt that we will get billion different answers because no two persons are same on this planet nor their  approach and experience is. But when we try to generalize it…I found out that ” Life is a journey”….Yes I mean it!! Once we boarded to go through this journey, we were all strangers initially but as we get along, we become something to somebody..i.e first we become a child to our parents, brother/sister to our little ones, friends to somebody…..and so on. All together we have learnt so many lessons… we wouldn’t have learnt those otherwise. Even though we have learnt lessons.. we rarely make use of those to build bright future. As in journey, in life also one needs to tolerate all problems posed by the fellow passengers…still we ought to help them in their difficult situations, this is where the real spirit and nature of the man will get revealed. Nobody can visit all the places of the world in his/her life time, likewise life is also incomplete….!! In totality, whatever we come across in journey, we get to see or feel those very moments in life as well, thats why I quoted “Life is a journey”…do you agree??

Sania’s Marriage…Controversy !!

I don’t know was  Sania Mirza become famous by her  achievements in tennis career, but I’m pretty sure that she became popular through her Marriage decision…that created controversy . Her decision to marry Shoaib Mallik  has created a sensational wave in the country. The very reason for this is…Shoaib Mallik  is a Pakistani,  much to add salt to the wound, because Pak has done  and still doing enough to devastate the India’s peace and integrity. Here I’m not blaming the citizens of  Pakistan (they may be good)…but condemning the system which is in place.

Even though Shaoib might have been a gentleman, still many started giving their opinions on the Sania’s marriage just by considering his place !!!   I don’t  know much about the affair between Sania and Shoaib and the veracity of their love..still I wish them good because I don’t believe in categorical thinking and  I do believe that LOVE can germinate between any individual without considering  any sort of limits. What we can draw  from this incident is….” Even though individual may be good, but he/she will also get bad tag because of  his/her family or country or race ‘s activities….”

People often tends to stereotype the  events or situations based on the popular beliefs, even here happened the same thing !!. People just spits out what they thought at that point of time, its more often subjective comment rather than objective. It’s hard to expect the objective arguments from the crowd…still some sapients give suggestions by looking at the main objective of the subject……confusing right !!! ( Yes, philosophy more often confuses than giving straight forward solutions). What am I trying to say here is,  We should take decisions by focusing at the Object which we are dealing ..but not going through whole lot of its ancestral history. History may give us some insights but only it cannot guide us to the future destiny. Like wise generally we can say that PAK people are bad, but we cannot say that the particular person is good or bad just by considering his/her locality, race, and their family background…Do you agree with me ??

Its me, ENJOYing life..

Eureka..!!

Eureka..eureka..yes..yes  I found out the secret behind the most head aching  problem..i.e  how to tackle the vivas of our own JK. It took place in CN lab [as most of the great inventions were took place in A&T and  Bell laboratories..:-) ] on 12/03/2010 at exactly 2.50pm. This invention has come at a cost of my..my own humiliation (I can say “humiliation ceremony” ) in CN lab…that every one might have enjoyed at their best; but in fact, I myself enjoyed it like anything…because that was done by our own beloved JK, JK the great !! (that he use to assume). OK…now I will brief you about my invention in points..that gives you people to craft a way forward while dealing with vivas of JK…those are…those are..so excited right ? (At least CS people will)

  • Don’t prepare for Viva, because he asks  most of the questions those are irrelevant to the topic.(But remember, Some seeks to find out your wit as well).
  • Don’t answer to the questions even if you know the answer. If you answer..its like putting up a fire on your bum by yourself, so just Shut up !!
  • Don’t laugh, be serious..at least act serious  !! even if you feel like ROFL….because he don’t want to admit his prowess in comedy. If  given a chance to be a connoisseur of the comedy show..I would love to give first place to JK.

hey..I wanna say one more thing about JK…that is ” JK is a good lecturer, but he desperately want to take control over each student that makes him terror” ( In CS student community). K, alright thats  it for this week… and If  anybody invites application for giving prize for “best invention”, please  do submit an application on behalf of  me…because I deserve it, for saving other students to undergo such an embarrassing  situation.

Its me..ENJOYing life..:-)
